My current practice sees the attempted imitation of everyday objects, using specific materials and a particular process; and the subsequent, often humourous interaction that takes place between the viewer and the object. Materials used are two-dimensional, readily available materials including corrugated cardboard, coloured paper, and foil. I enjoy the manipulation of these materials, transforming them into something they are not supposed to be. These low-fi materials are often combined with the use of electronics to add light, sound and motion to the objects. These electronics attempt to imitate the function of the everyday object, as well as increase the interaction with the viewer. Instead of copying directly from the original, I employ a method of trying to memorise the original everyday object, drawing what I remember and subsequently constructing a new version of it from these drawings. The use of both these mean the sculptures I produce reflect as well as distort the original.
